NBA Playoff Betting: First Round Game 6’s on April 28

All NBA Playoff betting handicappers should be all over the three Game 6’s on Thursday, April 28.

Orlando faces Atlanta, down 2 to 3, in Georgia. The Lakers battle the Hornets, up 3 to 2, in New Orleans and the Dallas Mavericks, also up 3 to 2, take on the Portland Trailblazers in the Northwest.  Check out previews for all three games below.

NBA Playoffs – April 28 Games

- Orlando Magic at Atlanta Hawks
Where:  Phillips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
When:  7:30 pm EST

BetUS Sportsbook NBA OddsAtlanta +2

Analysis:  Atlanta laid down in Game 5.  Not only did the Hawks not cover the NBA Playoff spread betting odds, the first time that the Hawks haven’t this series, they failed to get close to the Magic in a 101 to 76 loss.  Now, Atlanta takes on Orlando on their home court on Thursday with a chance to send the Magic packing their bags and heading back to Disneyworld.

Orlando is probably still flying high after holding the suddenly grounded Hawks to little more than 32% from the field. But Orlando only out rebounded Atlanta by 5, 48 to 43, and it’s doubtful that the Magic is going to be as stupendous on defense in a road game as they were playing in front of their hometown fans in Game 5. I love Dwight Howard, and he’s been something special during this series, but Atlanta still has the upper hand. They should not only cover the spread, but close this series out on Thursday night.

- Los Angeles Lakers at New Orleans Hornets
Where:  New Orleans Arena, New Orleans, Louisiana
When:  8:00 pm EST

BetUS Sportsbook NBA OddsNew Orleans +5 ½

Analysis:  Game 5 in L.A. was much closer, very close actually, for a while but the NBA’s favorite team found a way to break it open.  That favorite team, the Los Angeles Lakers, will be looking to shut the door on New Orleans on Thursday night in Game 6.  Although Kobe and Co. burned me in that Game 5, I truly believed that the Hornets would cover the NBA online betting spread, I still can’t get myself to back the La La Land Lakers.  L.A. is still discombobulated in my mind.

Sure, they’ve shown signs as the team to beat in the Western Conference, but they’ve also let Chris Paul absolutely take them to the cleaners in more than one game during this series.  CP3 is not going to stand by and simply allow the Lakers to win Game 6.  He’s going to get crazy on the court.  Will L.A. have an answer?  I don’t think so.  New Orleans on the moneyline might be the way to go in this contest on April 28.

- Dallas Mavericks at Portland Trailblazers
Where:  Rose Garden, Portland, Oregon
When:  10:30 pm EST

BetUS Sportsbook NBA OddsDallas +4 ½

Analysis:  Although the Mavericks have lost both games at Portland during this series, they haven’t lost against the spread.  In fact, going back to the regular season, the Dallas Mavericks are 8-1-1 against the spread in their last 10 games. They pushed in Game 3 versus the ‘Blazers and then covered in Game 4. The Portland Trailblazers are a decent squad but I’ve given up on the idea of them winning this series.

After all, Dallas hasn’t shown signs of slowing down, like I was convinced they would show, as the series has gone on.  In fact, Dallas played one of their best games of the series on April 25, putting a beat down on the ‘Blazers 93 to 82 and covering the 5 point NBA Playoffs online sports betting spread. The Mavericks are just playing better ball than the Portland Trailblazers.  I wouldn’t be surprised to see Big D not only cover the spread on Thursday night but also win the game straight up.
