Hot on the heels of an impressive win over his biggest rival last week in golf betting action at Pebble Beach, Phil Mickelson will tee it up as the favorite at 9/1 odds to win the Northern Trust Open for the third time in his career beginning Thursday at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California.

Mickelson, who climbed six spots to No. 11 in the official world golf rankings by shooting a sizzling 64 on Sunday to beat longtime foe Tiger Woods and the rest of the field at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, won the Northern Trust Open in 2008 and 2009 and also finished as the runner-up behind winner Charles Howell III back in 2007. Howell is also in the field this week at 50/1 odds.
Defending champion Aaron Baddeley is listed back at 30/1 odds and could be a solid value pick this week after finishing in fourth place last week at Pebble Beach. Baddeley hasn’t missed a cut in nine previous career appearances at this tournament.
World No. 1 Luke Donald of England headlines a strong contingent of international players who will be making their 2012 PGA Tour season debut this week at Riviera, along with Australians Adam Scott (28/1 odds) and Jason Day (30/1) as well as Spanish shotmaker Sergio Garcia (28/1).
